Cause of death: the autopsy
The IRS says IRIS will be the only system after 1 January 2027, so old flat files stop working. But the IRS's own IRIS portal is free, the pain is thin (1 tax-pro forum thread since 10/2025, mostly answered by vendors), and TaxBandits already says: 'Still have a FIRE file? Our system converts it for you post-upload.'
