Cause of death: the autopsy

The first pass said GO, but a three-seat review reversed it. A census of the importer category found 267 apps launched in 2025-26 with a median of 0 reviews (71% had none), and the top 10% of apps held 94% of reviews. The standout newcomer was a cheaper spreadsheet tool, and launches rose from 10-14 a quarter in 2024 to 85 in Q2 2026. Shopify bans 'copy any store' positioning, and top migration apps win reviews through human support.
