Cause of death: the autopsy
The spec's August 2026 release had 17 breaking changes, some of which fail silently. But a check found Shopify serves every merchant's profile automatically, and all 6 Shopify stores sampled were already on the newest version. The pain exists only for custom and non-Shopify builds, and existing tools already cover it: one monitors 22,031 storefronts, another sells checks at $9 a month for 3 domains. Parked unless a non-Shopify decay signal appears.
The numbers
None. It was never built, so there are no visitors, sales or ad spend to count. It died on paper, which is the cheapest place to die.
Could rise again if
A sign that non-Shopify stores fall behind the spec.
